Grant Shapps, a Member of Parliament for Welwyn Hatfield, has previously served as the Secretary of State for Transport since July 2019. Before entering politics, Shapps worked in the IT services industry and also founded his own marketing business.

As the new defence secretary, Shapps will be responsible for overseeing the UK's defense and armed forces. He will work closely with the military and defense officials to ensure the nation's security and preparedness for potential threats.

The reshuffle comes as the government aims to rejuvenate its agenda and tackle important policy issues such as defense and security.
