Russia says Ukraine sea drones destroyed in failed attack on Crimea bridge

According to Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), two Ukrainian military drones were destroyed in a failed attack on the Crimean Bridge. The incident reportedly took place on August 7, when the drones tried to drop explosive devices on the bridge connecting mainland Russia with the annexed Crimea peninsula.

The FSB stated that the drones were launched from Ukrainian-controlled territory and were tracked by Russian air defense systems. The drones were reportedly brought down by electronic warfare measures deployed by the Russian forces.

The Crimean Bridge, officially known as the Kerch Strait Bridge, was completed in 2018 and is seen as a crucial infrastructure link between Russia and the annexed Crimea. It has previously been the target of attempted sabotage and attacks by Ukrainian groups.

Ukraine has denied involvement in the incident, labeling Russia's claims as "provocations" and "fake news." The Ukrainian Defense Ministry stated that no such attacks on the Crimean Bridge were planned or executed.

The incident has further escalated tensions between the two countries, which have been at odds since Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine.
